The answer is you.

Woof! Hi Everyone! Because the countdown to Halloween is on, There are a couple of issues we need to discuss humans.
The first issue and the most common issue is that we may not recognize you or anyone else who comes to the door on Halloween. Therefore, we can get scared or we can bite. So, please ensure if we are at the door, that we are being held or have a leash on.
Next issue is, The candy! We love sweets and we all know my personal favorite, Chocolate! None of that is ok for an animal! Please make sure it is in a place where we can't get to it.
Lastly, in this day and age when we don't always know who our neighbors are, if we, meaning us dogs, growl or make a high pitched noise or even our hair goes up, Please listen to us and don't open your door. We are a great judge of character!

Woof! Last day of the month already! Yesterday, while I was out for my walk, I ran into an older woman and her 5 year old dog named, Sassy.
What a hunny she was!
Anyway, her mistress said that after she had lost her husband and her son, she had adopted Sassy and she felt that that was what was keeping her going these last years because she had someone who looks after her and also for her to look after.
I was very touched by her story and thought it was really great and good for her health as well.

So, to help us out, humans have a very special role and that is to protect us by not leaving things on or around so we won't get hurt.

Aroo! Hi Everyone! Today, I want to talk about something nasty, Poop and Pee!
Pooping and Peeing is very important to both humans and animals. So, please take notice if you see or smell the following:
- Bad or different odor of pee or poo
- If you're animal is dragging their behinds on the ground or your carpet, could indicate worms
- If your animal has white strings in their poop, could be worms.
- If there is blood in the poop or pee.
-If the poop is multicolored, could be crayons.
- And lastly, if there is diarrhea.
Best to check with the vet to make sure all is well!

Woof! Hi Everyone! You know it occurs to me that life is very simple if you are a dog. I mean, you eat, you sleep, you play a little, you poop, you pee and you do it all over again day after day, ad nausium.
Humans on the other hand, have to pay bills, talk politics, feed and clothe their children etc..
Now, of course we animals have a hierarchy, you've probably read about that in books like "Animal House" and even "Charlotte's Web" but, we don't have poverty or jobs or divorce.
Personally, I think we have a better life in general. What's your opinion?

Paws can freeze and cause many problems including frostbite and Arthritis.

Aroo! Here is a nice but creepy video for you to check out because of that nasty hurricane Isaac! I do want to talk about pet safety during a storm or other natural disaster.
My rule is this, free your animals! They know how to avoid natural occurrences and they know when they are coming so, pay attention if your animal is acting weird or starts running in the other direction with no apparent reason. Do you know that no animals got hurt during the Tsunami in Thailand?!

Woof! Are you happy it's Friday? Yes, Get down, get funky! Get your waddle on! I am going on a holiday weekend with the family and they found a neat little bed and breakfast for us to stay in and it's really great that I can come too!
It may not be an ideal vacation for everyone but, I don't feel left out. Since there are a lot of places that allow pets, it's best to Google the area your going to be in to see if there is the right place for your family and your pet. I will let you know how my vacation is going!

Wow,Woof! What is going to happen today!!! Time to go back to school! Dogs go to school too.
Some go to obedience school, some go K9 school, and some go to school to help people with disabilities for example, for people who are blind and people who can't hear. The great thing is that we are very capable of learning. So, here is a lesson lol, Woof! Take your dog to school, it will be very rewarding for you and your family. Hey Everyone! Woof! Today.I want to talk about collars..There are so many different kinds. I like the "Halty" myself but the chain choke collar is ok too. Most importantly, they have to fit properly or we can get caught on something and choke to death.
Also, it is important for identification purposes. Not just for dogs but, for cats too! So, check your local Petsmart or Petco to find one and try it on. How's everybody doin today? I can't hear you! Yea! Great! Woof! "Today is the first day of the rest of your life." Whoa! There I go again sounding like a commercial..ha!ha!
Today I wanted to talk about shedding. It's normal of course for your pet to shed, especially when it's time for the season to change but, when they loose too much hair or when they are scratching and there is considerable redness, it's best to take them to their veterinarian. Woof Everyone! Have you had your breakfast this morning? Me, I had some dry food, mixed with a half a can of canned food. I love all different brands such as Eukanuba, IAMS and Rotation just to name a few. All that really counts is that you get the food that lists meat first, if your not a vegetarian dog and then the rest ingredients. Also using the right formula for your dog such as puppy food or senior food is important too! Just like you wouldn't give a human baby solid food, you have to watch what you give your dogs as well! So now that you know, I am going to lie back and watch the Saturday morning line up on Pet Network and Animal Planet, maybe some Disney this Afternoon, I do love Disney! Woof, rr, hello! Feelin the pinch from my workout! Dogs are just like humans,they need proper food, exercise and lots of love and affection. Dogs, Like me tend to get into the obesity situation because we can give you that sad look; Like we never ate in our whole life. Be strong and "just say No!" It's not good for us and we don't have a "I am not hungry switch". So I will say "Thanks!" in advance on behalf of all my friends. Have a heart healthy day everyone! Bottom:)

Last week a reader of my column sent me a book to review. I would like to thank this person for the gift and suggestion.
Bottom is a young basset hound who after she got into a bit of trouble, was sold to a family that lives on a farm. Bottom instantly loves her new home and family. Her family, the Napshyrs, have two young daughters, Janet and Jill. Bottom meets an array of new animals that become her friends. As time passes, she begins to grow older and soon her new family thinks that maybe its time for her to have puppies. Bottom vows to be the best mother she can be and is so happy when her pups arrive.
This is a cute story about growing up. This is one of those books that you cuddle up with your children to read. I enjoyed reading it. I recommend this to mothers looking for a good story to read their young ones.

It's Hump Wednesday!  A couple more days until the weekend, can't wait! Ever wonder why some animals have humps on their backs and some don't? Tuesdays are always on my mind, la, la woof! Nothing like waking up singing with the birds or chasing them...Do you know that a Basset's main function was to hunt badgers? Yes, it's true, I am supposed to be a predator. Other hounds like myself are designed for hunting other small animals such as Rabbits. Good Saturday Morning All! It's raining here today and I am going to entertain myself by doing what I know best, chasing the neighbors cat. Of course, when I was young, I grew up with a cat named, Mortimer but, I was too little to really enjoy the benefits of cat chasing. Now, love it! Thursday's here! I get to go for a walk today. I have a choke collar and that keeps me from pulling my creator too much, I had a leather collar but, it really wasn't right for me. My collar holds all my identification and vaccinations so people know exactly who I am and what vaccinations I have had especially Rabies. It's Thursday! Time to get my yearly veterinarian checkup today. I like my vet but, I always get scared and pee on the floor of her office. Don't be scared my fellow pet friends, be healthy and get an annual checkup like me! And all you humans out there, have you had your checkup too? It's Wednesday! The middle of the week again. To me, since I am after all a dog, the middle of the week is inconsequential. All my days are pretty much the same as time is not a factor. Although, that being said, I do know when I have my meal times but, I never know when my Creator will be home so, I am there as always wagging my tail with a happy face, a warm smile and that non-judgemental look. The crazy thing is that I love the sound of the pitter patter of the rain coming down against the windows and pressing my nose up against the glass but, when it comes to doing my business outside well, It's just yucky! Happy Victoria Day Canadian Friends! I just love these holidays! It means that I get to do all kinds of kool stuff, like run around the back yard without a leash and bury small milk bones. Last year, I went in the Brook to cool off and they had to give me a bath cause I smelt like fish! Remember, always bathe your pet with pet shampoo so you don't harm us! Have an exhilarating day!
